Do you have a tuner? You can get some really good ones that cost about £20 that clip to the end of your guitar and work off vibrations so when you put the capo on, say, 3rd fret, it just means that you play the string, look at the note that it is vaguely near, assume that that is the note it is supposed to be(!) and make adjustments. In gig situations it's a pain as you have to think of clever things to say whenever you are doing it (which I am terrible at) but it means that you can sing stuff in whatever key you like.
